VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Avalon! Avalon offers a rewarding and enriching volunteer experience. As a non-profit agency, Avalon relies heavily on volunteer assistance. As a volunteer, you will be part of a professional team. Therapeutic riding done in a safe and professional manner can bring feelings of boundless joy and accomplishment for all involved. We appreciate and need your help! If you like horses, enjoy helping others, making new friends, and getting a little exercise, Avalon may be for you!
HELP NEEDED
Avalon volunteers help in a variety of tasks including:
- Grooming and tacking horses
for lessons
- Leading the horse or sidewalking
with the rider during a lesson
- Aiding in "mock" lessons with
new horses
- Various barn-related tasks including cleaning and sweeping
- Fundraising/Special Events Planning
REQUIREMENTS
Avalon volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and have reliable transportation. Most volunteers commit to once per week between one and three hours at a time. While horse experience is helpful, it is certainly not necessary. All new volunteers are given a Volunteer Handbook to help them get started and training is provided on an individual basis.
